Key points

  • CTEVT has mandated all affiliated and approved institutions to update their registration details within 35 days.
  • Applies to non-profit, public, trust, and community institutions registered under Section 4 of the Institution Registration Act, 2034.
  • Colleges are prohibited from registering private companies with matching names or transferring ownership shares without proper updates.
  • Non-compliant institutions risk legal penalties, including the cancellation of their affiliation or approval.

Details

The Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT) has issued a directive instructing its affiliated and approved educational centers to complete their official registration updates. Following an official council decision dated Bhadra 26, 2083, all colleges operating under Section 4 of the Institution Registration Act, 2034 must update and renew their status with their respective registering authorities.

Under this directive, institutions registered as non-profit organisations, community entities, public foundations, or trusts cannot register a separate private limited company using an identical or matching name. Additionally, colleges are restricted from shifting their ownership, transferring institutional names, or buying and selling shares through such private companies without completing the required updates first.

CTEVT has stated that institutions seeking program affiliation or program renewals must apply under the same legal status through which they originally received authorization. To verify compliance, institutions must submit verified supporting documents, certified by a notary public, to the CTEVT office within 35 days from the notice publication date.

The council warned that institutions failing to meet the 35-day deadline will face disciplinary action under existing laws. This enforcement may include the suspension or total revocation of their official affiliation. The official notice document can be downloaded below.
