1. What we collect
When you use notesharu we collect:
- Account basics (only if you sign in with Google): your name, email address, and profile photo.
- Study activity: XP, streaks, cards reviewed, quiz answers, lesson progress, saved items, and likes, so your progress syncs across devices.
- Content you submit: question photos you scan (processed with OCR to produce an answer) and comments you post.
- Basic technical data needed to run the Service, such as request logs.
- Purchase records, if you buy a pass or an add-on pack: the package and period you bought, the amount, the payment reference you give us, the payment screenshot you upload, and when the pass starts and ends.
We never see or store your card, bank, eSewa, or Khalti login details. Payments happen in your own payment app or bank, and all we receive is the reference and screenshot you send us so we can match the payment and activate your pass. We do not sell personal data to anyone.
2. How we use it
- To provide and sync your study progress, XP, and streaks.
- To run the leaderboard: you appear anonymous by default under a generated alias. Your real name and photo are shown only if you switch on "reveal" yourself, and you can switch it off again anytime.
- To answer questions you scan and to show comments you post.
- To improve the Service (for example, seeing which subjects are studied most).
- To confirm a payment, activate the pass you bought, and keep a record of the transaction.
3. Where your data lives
Data is stored on Amazon Web Services. Scanned images you upload without an account are deleted automatically within 24 hours; signed-in scan history is kept so you can revisit your answers.
4. Sharing
We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share data only with the infrastructure providers that run the Service (such as AWS and Google Sign-In), and only as needed to operate it. Content we publish to social platforms (for example, our own study shorts on TikTok) never includes your personal data.
5. Your choices
- Use the Service without an account: nothing personal is collected beyond basic logs.
- Leaderboard: stay anonymous (default) or reveal yourself, reversible anytime on the leaderboard page.
- Delete your data: email us and we will delete your account, progress, scans, and comments.
6. Children
The Service is intended for students preparing for university and school examinations. If you believe a child has provided personal data inappropriately, contact us and we will remove it.
7. Changes
Material changes to this policy will appear on this page with a new date.
