The Khem-Lal Harikala Lamichhane Foundation has officially announced the recipients of the Padmashree awards for the year 2082. Renowned poet and lyricist Shrawan Mukarung was selected for the Padmashree Literary Award for his novel titled Salah. The book was picked from 192 total submissions after making it through an initial list of 15 titles and a final shortlist of five.
The foundation stated that Mukarung's novel focuses on marginalized voices within Nepali society. Through symbolic narrative methods, vivid nature imagery, and poetic expression, the book examines key social issues such as gender discrimination, violence, displacement, and personal identity.
Alongside the novel award, the foundation selected veteran author Krishna Dharabasi for the Padmashree Sadhana Samman. This award recognizes his continuous contributions to Nepali literature over the past five decades. Furthermore, Prof. Dr. Jayaraj Acharya was chosen for the Padmashree Gaurav Award to honor his extensive work in literature, linguistics, international relations, and diplomatic service.
Foundation Chairperson Jeeva Lamichhane confirmed that each of the three award winners will be presented with a certificate of honour and a cash prize of NPR 300,000.
