Kathmandu Model Secondary School and College in Bagbazar has contributed over Rs. 2.37 million to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund to support families affected by the flood on Bhadau 10, 2083. Student committee representatives handed over the cheque directly to the Minister for Education and Sports, Sasmit Pokharel. The financial contribution combines institutional support with voluntary contributions from campus members: Rs. 1,533,333 provided by the institution, Rs. 575,747 raised by teachers and staff, and Rs. 258,250 gathered by students.
In addition to the central donation, the student committee disbursed direct financial relief to four KMC students who lost their guardians during the flood. Each affected student received Rs. 51,000 from the student committee fund to help ease their immediate financial burden.
Management leadership highlighted that placing students at the front of the handover ceremony was a deliberate choice. Management Committee Chairperson Rameshwar Aryal noted that students form the core of any educational institution, and encouraging them to lead social initiatives builds empathy and civic responsibility.
College Chief Surendra Subedi stated that the college intends to extend its efforts beyond initial cash assistance. KMC plans to help rebuild damaged physical infrastructure in affected educational centers, organize psychosocial counseling sessions, and facilitate teacher exchange programs to ensure long-term recovery for impacted communities and maintain educational continuity.
