Details
Nepal Rastra Bank has officially brought its Series 2025 Rs. 1,000 currency note into public circulation. While keeping the dimensions identical to previous issues, the updated currency features a revised light green tone bordered in purple. The front of the banknote retains iconic national imagery, including Mount Everest on the left side, a rhododendron watermark, and an oval Bhagwati graphic that shifts from gold to green when tilted. A 3.5 mm wide security thread displays dynamic movement along with the text NRB and 1000. It carries the signature of Governor Prof. Dr. Biswo Nath Poudel alongside the B.S. 2082 series marking.
To assist visually impaired citizens, the central bank incorporated a raised Roman letter M on the bottom right corner along with ten horizontal angular lines on both sides of the front design. A partial blue see-through register aligns to reveal the full 1000 numeral when viewed against light. On the reverse side, the note displays the twin elephants Ram and Laxman born in Chitwan, seven rhododendrons representing Nepal's seven provinces, and the historical pillar from Lhaun Chowk in Hanuman Dhoka. The lower reverse border bears the 2025 A.D. designation.
The central bank clarified that while the earlier Series 2019 was slated to run up to serial number ट/१०० ९९९९९९, physical production stopped at ट/९१ ४४००००. Consequently, the newly circulated Series 2025 begins directly from serial number ट/९२ ०००००१.
