Details

The Ministry of Education and Sports, alongside the Curriculum Development Centre, has initiated updates to the National Curriculum Framework for School Education, 2076. Executive Director Mahendra Parajuli stated that these revisions aim to align school education with rapid technological advancements and national needs. Key proposed additions prioritize artificial intelligence and coding, alongside moral education, disaster management, and climate change adaptation.

Beyond technological subjects, feedback emphasized making school education more practical, flexible, and inclusive. Stakeholders advocated for vocational skills and entrepreneurship training from early grades. There were also strong calls to enforce initiatives like "Book-Free Day" and "Bagless Day" to encourage practical learning. Additionally, participants stressed that curriculum changes must be matched with professional teacher training to achieve better educational outcomes.

To ensure nationwide participation, a specialized task force conducted feedback programs at 46 centers across all seven provinces. The campaign covered more than 28 districts and involved over 25,000 participants, including students, teachers, parents, and local government representatives. The Curriculum Development Centre is currently analyzing this nationwide feedback, alongside 12 expert thematic papers and relevant research reports, to finalize the revised framework.
