The Bachelor of Information Technology (BIT) at Tribhuvan University is a four-year, eight-semester program run by the Institute of Science and Technology. It shares a lot of ground with BSc CSIT in the early semesters, then turns towards applied and management-side subjects: information security, database administration, management information systems, e-commerce, cloud computing and e-governance.

This page lists the full BIT syllabus by semester with course codes, says what each paper tends to ask, and links each subject to its notes and solved past questions on the BIT program page. If you are still deciding between the two programs, read CSIT vs BIT: which to choose.

The theory paper for a BIT subject follows the same two-group pattern as CSIT: a long-answer group of 10-mark questions and a short-answer group of 5-mark questions, with internal and practical marks added by the college. Check the front of the paper for the exact split in your subject.

1st semester

CodeSubjectWhat the paper asks
BIT101Introduction to Information TechnologyDescriptive answers on hardware, software, data, networks and IT in society
BIT102C ProgrammingProgram writing, output tracing, arrays, functions, pointers, structures, files
BIT103Digital LogicNumber systems, Boolean simplification, combinational design, flip-flops, counters
MTH104Basic MathematicsAlgebra, calculus and matrix numericals with full working
SCO105SociologySocial concepts, institutions, change and research methods

Notes and solved questions for the 1st semester are on each subject page: BIT101, BIT102, BIT103, MTH104, SCO105.

2nd semester

CodeSubjectWhat the paper asks

BIT153Object Oriented ProgrammingClasses, inheritance, polymorphism, templates and exception handling in C++
STA154Basic StatisticsDescriptive statistics, probability, distributions, correlation
ECO155EconomicsMicro and macro economic concepts with short numericals

The 2nd semester is where BIT differs most from CSIT at the same stage: microprocessor and architecture are one combined paper, BIT151. Other pages: BIT152, BIT153, STA154, ECO155.

3rd semester

CodeSubjectWhat the paper asks
BIT201Data Structures and AlgorithmsStack and queue operations, linked lists, recursion, sorting and searching traces, trees, graphs

BIT204Operating SystemsScheduling, deadlock, memory and file management with numericals
MGT205Principles of ManagementManagement functions, planning, organising, leading and controlling

The 3rd semester carries the two core computing papers of the program: BIT201 and BIT202. Also: BIT203, BIT204, MGT205.

4th semester

How to study from this syllabus

Every subject page on notesharu shows the official unit list on the left and the notes, solved questions and important questions on the right. The practical approach for any BIT paper is to read the unit notes once, open the important questions view to see which topics have repeated across years, and then work through the solved past questions in that order. The BIT collection currently holds more than 2,400 solved questions from papers between 2077 and 2082 BS, all tagged to their syllabus unit.

The two landing pages collect everything: BIT notes for unit-wise notes across all 43 subjects and BIT past questions for the solved papers. The official curriculum and examination notices are published by the Institute of Science and Technology, linked in the sources; if a college teaches a revised elective list, the institute's notice is the authority.
