Details
The Ministry of Education and Sports has officially introduced the Ensuring Future Scholarship Scheme (Sunischit Bhavishya Chhatrabritti Yojana) to assist children impacted by recent severe flooding in the Bhote Koshi River. Announced by Education and Sports Minister Sashmit Pokharel, the NPR 1 billion relief initiative aims to prevent school dropouts caused by environmental disasters. The flood on August 26 affected 15 local levels across Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading, Gorkha, and Tanahun, all of which have been designated as disaster crisis zones by the government.
Around 1,000 students from Early Childhood Development (ECD) through Grade 12 will receive educational assistance under this initiative. Depending on individual circumstances, support will be provided through full, partial, or residential coverage. Beyond school fee exemptions, the scheme ensures that students receive essential learning materials, textbooks, uniforms, daily meals, and secure residential support.
The relief framework is built on a joint partnership between federal, provincial, and local government bodies, along with private school operator associations such as PABSON and HISSAN. Selection of eligible candidates will rely on ground field surveys and verified recommendations issued by local ward offices and municipal units. If you have questions regarding education policies or academic paths, you can always ask a question to get guidance from fellow peers and experts.
What this means for students
If your family or school was impacted by the Bhote Koshi river flooding, contact your local ward office or school administration to ensure your name is included in the verification survey. Eligible Grade 11 and 12 students can secure complete support for their secondary education while using resources like NoteTok, 30-second concept shorts to keep up with their coursework during school transition periods.
