Draw the basic functional units of a computer.

A computer has five basic functional units: the input unit, the memory unit, the arithmetic and logic unit (ALU), the control unit, and the output unit. The ALU and the control unit together form the CPU.

Input devices bring data and programs into memory. The control unit fetches each instruction from memory and sends signals to the other units. The ALU performs arithmetic and logic operations. Results go back to memory and then to the output unit, such as a monitor or printer.
